Emergency Delectable Measures Quick Tip: Do Something Crazy

Hello from Philadelphia! I’m here doing crazy things I never would have expected, and it’s making me feel, well, pretty excited but also sore in muscles I didn’t know existed! More on that another time. But it occurred to me that this part of A Life Delectable.

One of the things the BHH and I do when things get tough is “Cave Up” to quote him. Life gets a little nutty. The world seems assaulting. And we go in the house and watch TV and curl up in blankets and such. Well, that’s not really such a bad thing. We have each other after all. But just as the protective hunching of shoulders can tend to bring me down further, and needs to be counteracted with yoga, the protective caving up sometimes needs to be counteracted with wild expansive gestures.

So, when I was recently invited to do something out of the ordinary, something that would totally disrupt the planned schedule, my first instinct was “nope, can’t”. But you know what? I can! And I did! And the world went on. In fact, I said yes to quite a few weird things that came my way in these past couple of weeks. And I made contact with the great people in my life, face to face, even when the timing seemed hard or even impossible. And, I can’t remember feeling this great (aside from said sore muscles) in quite a while. Especially during a time of stress or holiday or both. Hmmm. Interesting. I think I will start saying yes more!

What about you? What slightly “out there” thing might you say “yes” to, even when your gut instinct says no?

By the way, keep your eyes peeled for the BHH’s favorite veggie meal, coming up soon. I know we’re overdue for some delectable eats!
